Understanding the Rehabilitation Needs of Displaced Persons MOOC

WEBINAR AND Q&A WITH THE EXPERTS THIS WEEK!

 

We are now on Week 5 of the Physiopedia and ReLAB-HS annual MOOC, and we are really excited to announce two free live-streamed webinars. This is an amazing opportunity to hear from and ask your questions of some of our expert MOOC Instructors - don't miss it!

 

The first webinar takes place THIS WEEK on Thursday 6 October 2022, 4pm UK with Eric Weerts and Sue Piché, who will be discussing trauma informed care and working with survivors of torture. So whichever MOOC course you are currently working on, come along on Thursday to consolidate your learning and get your questions answered by the experts.

 

The second webinar will take place on Wednesday 12 October at 3pm UK when Zafer Altunbezel & Naomi O’Reilly will discuss pain assessment and management for displaced persons.

 

Also this week, thousands of Rehabilitation Professionals around the world are turning their thoughts now to working with survivors of sexual violence and trafficking as they get started on Course 5.

Course 5 details: Considerations and Practical Tools for Working with Survivors of Sexual Violence and Trafficking

 

Aim

To provide an overview of working with survivors of sexual violence and trafficking who experience displacement and forced migration.

 

Outline

- Working with survivors of sexual violence or sexual trafficking
- Practical tools for working with displaced persons with trauma

 

Hours of Learning

Around 2–2.5 hours learning on your own schedule

 

Learning outcomes
- explain the prevalence of sexual violence
- describe the consequences of sexual violence and female genital mutilation
- discuss why sexual violence occurs in conflict settings
- explore practical strategies to calm the response of the nervous and limbic systems in displaced persons who have experienced sexual violence

When you finish each course you are able to download a certificate of completion. To qualify for the course certificates you need to:

 

- log as completed all the required learning activities
- participate in the course discussions
- complete and pass the final quiz with a score of 80% or more
- complete a course evaluation

Not everyone participating in this MOOC is working to the same schedule. No matter where you are up to, you can continue to work through the course content at your own pace for free until 30 October. After this date only Plus members will be able to complete the full programme and refer back to any of the resources at any time in the future (people in low and low-middle income countries can get free Plus membership).
